What Industrial Cleaning Means

Industrial cleaning is the removal of process residue, grease, dust and production waste from a working manufacturing or processing environment, carried out to a written method that accounts for the plant, the substances involved and whoever is working nearby. Industrial cleaning in Cardiff, Swansea and across South Wales is bought by production and site managers, and it is a different discipline from cleaning an office or a shop floor.

The difference is the decision-making. On a commercial site the questions are frequency and access. On an industrial site the first questions are what the residue is, what the safety data sheet says, whether the plant is isolated, who else is on the floor, and where the waste goes afterwards. Get those wrong and a clean becomes an incident. That is why the method is agreed before any equipment comes through the gate.

The Industrial Cleaning We Carry Out

Production line and process cleaning

Degreasing, residue removal and sanitising between shifts or inside a planned downtime window, worked to the isolation and permit arrangements your site already operates.

Plant and machinery cleaning

External degreasing and detailed cleaning of plant, guarding and surrounding structure, carried out only on equipment your team has isolated and released to us.

Factory floors and process areas

Machine scrubbing, degreasing, spill residue removal and anti-slip treatment where surfaces have been polished smooth by traffic.

High-level cleaning

Steelwork, ductwork, overhead pipework, extraction and lighting, planned as its own task and reached on our own cherry pickers or scissor lifts with MEWP-trained operators, rather than from whatever is standing nearby.

Shutdown and turnaround cleans

Deep cleaning inside a maintenance or holiday shutdown, sequenced against your engineering programme so the clean is not the reason the line restarts late.

Waste and debris clearance

Process waste, packaging, swarf and general debris removed to your nominated waste stream.

Food production and food storage areas

Cleaned to fit your existing hygiene procedures and HACCP plan, with equipment kept separate from the rest of the site's kit.

The sites we work on run across manufacturing and fabrication, food production, pharmaceutical and laboratory-adjacent areas, engineering workshops and tool rooms, and automotive bodyshops and service bays.

All the equipment is ours: ride-on scrubbers, industrial pressure washers, industrial vacuums, cherry pickers and scissor lifts operated by MEWP-trained operatives, and our own power supply where a site has no convenient outlet. You do not need to provide anything beyond site access.

Storage and distribution buildings are a different job again, and sit on our warehouse and factory cleaning page.

How an Industrial Cleaning Job Is Planned

Site visit first, always

No industrial job is priced off a description. We walk the area, see the residue, the plant and the access, and talk to whoever runs the floor.

We agree the method

What is being cleaned, with what, under whose isolation and permit system, with what protection for adjacent equipment and people.

You get the paperwork with the quote

Scope, COSHH information for the products, a site-specific risk assessment and the method statement, plus how waste is handled.

We book it into your window

The area is released to your team, clear of our equipment and waste.
Why choose us

Why South Wales Manufacturers Choose CrewConnect

Industrial cleaning sits inside the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002, which require employers to assess exposure to hazardous substances and control it, including the substances a cleaning method itself brings onto the floor. The exposure risk in a process environment is not theoretical: the Health and Safety Executive estimates that around 12,000 lung disease deaths each year in Great Britain are linked to past exposure at work. Dust, fume residue and degreasing chemistry are exactly the sort of exposure a written method is meant to control.

CrewConnect is SafeContractor approved, which is an independently assessed health and safety standard rather than a badge. Crews are DBS checked. Operatives hold CSCS cards where the site requires them and are trained in confined space entry, working at height and manual handling, and the company carries £10m public liability insurance as standard. CrewConnect is veteran-owned, which shows up on an industrial site as the least glamorous habit in the trade: doing the paperwork properly and following the method when nobody is checking.

About the Founders, Jack Davies and Max Rahman

Jack Davies and Max Rahman founded CrewConnect Cleaning and scope every industrial job themselves rather than sending an estimator. Jack is a veteran, and the discipline the company runs on came out of that: written method, briefed crew, checks done to schedule.

On an industrial site the method matters more than the machine. What we are cleaning, what it leaves behind and what is running next door decides how the job is done. The CrewConnect standard, in one line

How an Industrial Cleaning Quote Works

There is no rate card for industrial cleaning, because two factories of the same floor area can be a full day apart once the residue, the access and the downtime window are known. Every job is surveyed and quoted in writing, setting out:

Site visits and quotes are free.

the area and the exact scope of work
the residue or contamination being removed, and the method
access, isolation and permit arrangements
the window the work runs in, and the duration
waste handling and where it goes
what is supplied by us and what is supplied by your site

Frequently asked questions

How often should a factory be professionally cleaned?+
It follows output and residue rather than the calendar. A high-output line generating grease or fine dust may need attention weekly or between shifts, while lighter assembly work runs comfortably on a monthly or quarterly cycle with a full clean at shutdown. We survey the site and recommend an interval that keeps you compliant without buying cleaning you do not need.
Can you clean around operational machinery?+
Yes, with conditions. Work alongside running plant is done to an agreed exclusion distance and method, and anything requiring direct contact with machinery happens only after your team has isolated it under your own lock-off system and released it to us. Where that cannot be arranged safely, the task moves into your next downtime window instead.
What health and safety certifications does your team hold?+
CrewConnect is SafeContractor approved, an independently assessed health and safety standard, and every crew member is DBS checked. Operatives hold CSCS cards where required and are trained in confined space entry, working at height and manual handling. We carry £10m public liability insurance as standard. Task-specific training and the method statement for your site are agreed before work starts. If a task needs a ticket or accreditation we do not hold, we will tell you at the survey rather than after the quote.
Do you provide COSHH documentation and risk assessments?+
Yes, and they come with the quote rather than after it. You receive COSHH information for every product coming onto your site, a site-specific risk assessment and a method statement written for the actual area and plant involved. If your site operates its own permit system, our method is written to sit inside it.
What is high-level cleaning and do you offer it?+
High-level cleaning covers everything above normal working height: steelwork, ductwork, overhead pipework, extraction, cable trays and lighting. In a process building this is where dust and fume residue collect, and it is the most commonly skipped task on any industrial site. We plan it as its own job, on our own cherry pickers and scissor lifts with MEWP-trained operators, rather than improvising access on the day.
Can you clean food production areas?+
Yes. Food production and food storage areas are cleaned to fit the HACCP-based procedures your business is already required to operate, using food-safe products and equipment kept segregated from the rest of the site's kit. Your quality team sets the standard and the verification method, and our method statement is written to match it.
Do you work during operational hours or shutdowns?+
Both. Routine cleaning runs alongside production where it is safe to do so, and deep cleaning, plant work and high-level tasks go into planned downtime: shift gaps, nights, weekends, bank holidays or a full shutdown. Cleaning operations run 24 hours a day, so the window is yours to choose.
How much does industrial cleaning cost?+
It is priced per job, never per hour, because the variables are the residue, the access, the isolation arrangements and the size of the window rather than the floor area. We visit, scope the work and quote a fixed figure in writing before anything starts, with any variation agreed in writing first.

Book an Industrial Cleaning Site Visit

Tell us what the residue is, where it sits and when the area is free. We will walk the site, write the method and put a fixed figure in writing.
